Complete Salmagundi Club Exhibition Records
by Alexander W. Katlan

The Salmagundi Club, one of the oldest and most venerated professional art clubs in New York City, was founded in 1871 and is still active today. During the course of this existence, its members have held hundreds of exhibitions and sales, many of which have been re-catalogued by Salmagundi Club historian Alexander Katlan, and are now available for the first time in the form of a single reference book. The book also contains numerous articles, essays, and facts about the club and its history. The exhibition record section of the book lists thousands of paintings by hundreds of artists, and also includes representative illustrations of art as well as of some of the club's better known artist members. Suffice it to say that the book is a required addition to any working art reference library that focuses on American art of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
