GORDON'S PRINT & PHOTOGRAPH AUCTION PRICE RESULTS 2008
BOOK, CD-ROM, AND ONLINE DATABASE (DATASTORE) FORMATS

Gordon's Photography Price Annual International 2008 catalogs over 16,000 sales results for original 19th and 20th century photographs (and books and periodicals containing original photographs) sold at auction internationally during the 2007 selling season. Important details about signature location, negatives, print dates, and other critical information is also contained in each entry. Plus you get a comprehensive bibliography of photographic literature which comes in mighty handy if you're doing research and need titles of reference books relevant to the photographers or images you're researching. Selling prices are listed in dollars, pounds, and euros.

What makes this (as well as all Gordonsart products) superior to those of the competition is the in-depth nature of each listing-- the more you know about a print or photograph in terms of condition, signature information, and other particulars, the better you understand why it sold for what it sold for, and how that selling price relates to similar prints or photographs that you either own, want to sell, or are considering buying. For example, a photograph with condition problems, or lacking a signature, or that's a later printing of an original might sell for $500 while an original printing, fully signed and in perfect condition might sell for $20,000. Even though both prints have the same title, photographer, and origination date, little details result in huge price differences-- and you have to know why. Auction prices mean little or nothing unless they're accompanied by detailed descriptions that enable you to sort things out and effectively apply the results.

Those of you who don't want to be bothered with books or CD-ROMs can take advantage of Gordon's Datastores , online databases containing 230,000 photograph prices or 950,000 print auction prices-- the online equivalents of Gordon's CD-ROMS with one invaluable advantage-- the online databases are continually updated enabling you keep current with the latest sales results for international print and/or photograph auctions. Two additional plus points to the Datastore are that it's quick and easy to use (you don't have to load a CD-ROM), and Mac users don't have install PC emulating software. Plus you have access to thousands of images of prints and photographs. On the other hand, once your subscriptions expire (available month to month or in six-month blocks), you have to renew-- whereas you can use a CD-ROM as long as you want (even though the price data becomes increasingly outdated). Or if you're out and about with no remote access, that can be problematic too.

Datastore prices vary depending on which products you want, and the length of your subscription. For complete information on Datastore products, prices, and subscription options, please visit the at the Datastore products page at the Gordon's website.
