San Francisco Art Openings: Asian American Women Artists

SOMARTS; ASIAN AMERICAN WOMEN ARTISTS ASSOCIATION
(S)KINSHIP: AFRICAN AMERICAN & ASIAN AMERICAN CONNECTIONS
OPENING 05.08.04

Comment: Skinship refers to feelings of relatedness and affection between two people, particularly mother and child, and is here expanded to encompass two cultures as well. As you might expect, these feelings permeated not only the art, but the reception itself, creating a warm and accepting atmosphere, and demonstrating the unifying powers of creative expression.

Artist/Artists: Susan Almazol, Lorraine Bonner, Brenda da Luz, Corrine Innis, Amana Johnson, Kay Kang, Sharon Leong, Jeanette Madden, Keiko Nelson, Flo Oy Wong.
