Sandra Lee Gallery : Oakland Anticipations - Brett Amory.

Comment by AB: The act of waiting is often a lonely and desolate experience. Brett Amory effectively reveals that silent isolated agony in paint.

Cain Schulte Gallery : Persistent Behavior, Repetition as Art - Mason Eubanks and Indira Martina Morre.

Review by RWM: Amazing details in abstract with a complexity that rivals those of maps. You cannot help but appreciate the fine workmanship and care taken to create these compositions as you lose yourself in the intricacies of the renderings. The works are impressive when closely observed; when stepping away, you can equally appreciate them in their totalities.

Hangart Gallery : Viewpoints - Addie Shevlin.

Review by RWM: Addie Shevlin displays a tranquil hazy take on landscape painting. These outdoor paintings are somewhat rugged with hills, mountains, plains, and waters. The scenes are relaxing in a way, at times almost like the mollifying effects of a medicine which has just solved most of the problem, but that leaves residue in the system. Though the potential exists for ambivalence, many will find these artworks lovely anyway.

Ever Gold Gallery : John Held Jr. - Debris from the Cultural Underground.

Comment by AB: Forty years worth of artistic ephemeral high points with emphasis on Fluxus and Mail Art-- a dizzying display from the collection of John Held Jr. including rubber stamps, mail art, artist postage stamps, original art, broadsides, photographs and more. John Held Jr. is a San Francisco artist, writer, collector, bibliographer and cultural historian.

Frey Norris Gallery : Andrea Dezsö - Things We Think When We Believe We Know.

Comment by AB: Romanian-born artist Andrea Dezsö offers up a rather intriguing array of traditional-style ceramic plates with contemporary messages, curious big-eared creaturette sculptures, backlit paint and cut paper fantasy dioramas, autobiographical text-based stitched works and more. Worth a visit.
