Velvet Da Vinci Gallery : Puako - Jewelry by Kay Sekimachi + Kiff Slemmons.

Comment by AB: The collaborative work on display here is "inspired by the beach combings of reknowned fiber artist Kay Sekimachi and celebrated jeweler Kiff Slemmons during their stays at Puako, Hawaii."

Fivepoints Arthouse : Halloween Party with art by Dusty Girard.

Comment by AB: Dusty Girard's shadowboxes cannot be more appropriate for an All Hallows Eve event. Some are for daylight viewing; other low-light ones are perfect for those deep dark eerie nights; all are gloriously gruesomely ghoulish. I'm so inspired, I flip the night vision switch (yep, I got one) on the camera when the gallery lights temporarily go black.

The LAB : Seth Lower - In Looking for Lee Ming.

Comment by AB: In 2008, Seth Lower gets an email from one Lee Ming in Taipei. In it, Ming claims to have encountered Lower in a dream before Lower was even born. Which is weird enough to get one's attention. So Lower gets all twitterpated about the dealie-bob (as would most of us) and off he goes to Taipei in search of the mysterious and illusive Lee Ming. There you have the pretext for tonight's event.

Big Umbrella Studios : Fred Gray, Ian Hill, others - The Monster Show.

Review by RWM: All sorts of wild and strange creatures abound in this show of mostly odd monsters. They are not however all scary. Some even seem like wild creatures seeking acceptance despite their fantastical forms. A number of the usual suspects are on display, but there are also the unusual. Shocking!
