Caldwell Snyder Gallery : Igor & Marina - Under the Renaissance Sky.

Comment: Collaboratives by husband/wife team Igor Kozlovsky and Marina Sharapova range from eloquent to magical to stunning. Marina tells me she heads up the department of figuration while Igor is in charge of surroundings. Often with collaborations, the respective contributions don't quite mesh for one reason or another; here the meld is about as impeccably immaculate as it gets. In the "favorites" category, two paintings of figures against backgrounds of hand signs rise to the top of my chart. If you appreciate artists who know how to paint (not all that common these days), you'll appreciate this show. Recommended.

San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery : Immediate Future - The 2007 Murphy & Cadogan Fellowships in the Fine Arts.

Artists: Steven Allen, Taha Belal, Michelle Blade, Matthew Bonner, Jennifer Brommer, Marque Cornblatt, Ian Everard, Greg Gandy, Trisha Grover, Cameron Hockenson, Jason Jakaitis, Matthew Jones, Danny Keith, Ann Kim, Jody Medich, Jenna North, Jessica Rosen, Lizabeth Rossof, Zachary Starer, Sara Thacher, Brant Vest, Marci Washington, Adrianne Watson & Ethan Worden.

Comment: Tomorrow's art stars today-- assessed as of today by jurors Meg Shiffler of the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery, J.D. Beltran of the San Francisco Art Institute, and Jenny Baie of the Rena Bransten Gallery. The $3500 Murphy & Cadogan Fellowships, sponsored by The San Francisco Foundation , help promising art students to fund their final years of grad studies. Not only do they get the $$$, but they also get to be in a show-- this one at the SFAC Gallery. Wanna help ID artists? Please email me .

Electric Works : Ronald Davis - Five Decades, Past and Present.

Comment: Decades worth of precision geometric and architectural abstracts by Ronald Davis, the largest works capable of holding their own in any institutional or corporate setting. Almost as impressive as the art is the space that Electric Works, formerly Trillium Press of Brisbane, has procured to exhibit in.

The Shooting Gallery : Eric Joyner - Malfunction.

Comment: Science fictionalist Eric Joyner, in classic style, accesses a world of robots and donuts, and offers it up as an amusing alternative to the world we have now. Oh, sweet symphony...
