BellJar : Oh - Harley Eaves, Kyle Sears.

Review by Anneliese Vobis: Harley Eaves and Kyle Sears present a colorful show about their attitudes towards natural habitats and unnatural materials. Kaleidoscopic imagery contrasts with colorful geometric line work. Meticulous compositions show the deep-rooted fascination for the chosen subject-- an alchemy of the senses.

Needles & Pens : Beyond the Empty - An International 8-Person Show. Curated by Ephameron.

Artists: Ana Albero, Ephameron, Atsuko Ishii, Gemma Correll, Louis Reith, Paul Paetzel, Till Hafenbrak, Ward Zwart.

Comment by AB: As usual, Needles & Pens manages to cram an astounding number of artworks into their diminutive exhibition space. The best part? It's all good. The directorship always manages to bring home the talent, this time an international array from Spain, Japan, Belgium, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Germany. Stop on by; something for everyone. And affordable too!

Incline Gallery : Manifest 770. Curated by Scott Jennings and Mosshouse.

Artists: Claire Jackel, Jason Aumann, Carolynn Haydu, JR Doty, Lane Coder, Francis Baker, Jessica Skloven, Mitsu Okubo, Tim Schafer, Bassem Yousri, Joseph Melamed, CK Lyons.

Review by Anneliese Vobis: The aritists reflect in various media on the colorful history of the Incline Gallery building, formerly a mortuary. Works on display include photographs, mixed media, video and sculpture.

Comment by AB: The show's supposed to be about the history of the space, but the dots aren't quite connecting for me in terms of how a good percentage of this art might mesh with that premise. Perhaps the secret sauce is in the artists' alibis.

Dogpatch Cafe : Pier 70, Past and Present, An Exhibition of Historic and Contemporary Photographic Images - Ralph Wilson and Henrik Kam.

Review and images by Anneliese Vobis: Through this strong expressive photography we experience compelling architectural scenarios. Every composition invites for deeper exploration of the given subjects.

Review by RWM: Past and present, but also the future with futuristic cruise lines. Some say melancholy is death, but it is also nostalgia and the recognition of the value of things from the past which should not be forgotten.

Driftwood Salon : Nine Eleven Realism.

Artists: Bern Rauch, Rafael B. Vieiva, Bill Cooper, Johnny Ringo.

Review and images by Anneliese Vobis: This show grasps the essence of the dramatic events of September 11, 2001. The artists here remember an event they once wanted to forget. The art on display confronts us with a nightmarish investigation-- the memory of pain, shock and suffering.
