Comment by AB: Four artists reflect on the complexities of the relationship between figure and ground-- actual physical ground-- as in landscape, nature, the environment. This is one of those shows where the statement and descriptions of each artist's work are so abstruse, I'm thoroughly flummoxed as to who made what. Heather Watson tells me about her art, so that's covered. As for the other three, I'm gonna have to guess. Note to artists (and galleries): Describe your art in terms that ordinary everyday people can understand and save the recondite gobbledygook for your MFA cronies. We not all fortunate enough to have postgraduate degrees like you do.
