Brian Gross Fine Art : Amy Trachtenberg - From India to the Planet Mars.

Comment by AB: Ever seen a zipper on a work of wall art? Me neither... or at least I don't think I have. But you'll see one here. Verticality abounds in this striated affair. It's mainly about the art, of course, but the back stories on Amy Trachtenberg's process will indubitably augment the visual experience. Stop on by.

Jack Fischer Gallery : Color and Form.

Artists: Willie Harris, Marlon Mullen, Jonathan Velasquez.

Comment by AB: Three artists from the NIAD Art Center in Richmond, CA (National Institute of Art & Disabilities) strut their intuitive stuff.

Varnish Fine Art : Peter Schifrin - Silver Lining Mother F*cker.

Review by RWM: Inviting despite the title. Nice mixture of works on the wall and sculptures. Interesting to see the colors grey and silver used to advantage. Subjects are pained yet stylized. Big fun for a big crowd.

Comment by AB: Considered as a whole-- underpinnings as well as art-- the exhibition is meritorious from a motivational standpoint, but the art is uncomfortably compositionally proximitous to the sculpture of Stephen de Staebler, and heavy-handed at that.
