San Francisco Art Openings: Bucheon Gallery

BUCHEON GALLERY
INAUGURAL SHOW, LAWRENCE LABIANCA SCULPTURE
OPENING 04.02.04

Comment: Bucheon reopens after about a year long hiatus with a show of cleanly crafted wood, metal, and glass sculptures by Lawrence LaBianca. Most are sliced up tree branches with the permutated slices strung back together on metal rods. The remaining pieces are nonfunctional functional tool-like apparatuses-- if that makes any sense-- like a circular wooden device with a crank that looks like it's there for you to turn, but then you try to turn it and nothing happens. Ponder that. The new space works nicely-- next to the old Vorpal Gallery on Grove.

Artist/Artists: Lawrence LaBianca.
