Comment: Bella Feldman's sculptures are extremely compentent and beautifully crafted-- not a girder out of place. In spite of their large size and weight, they have soft symmetric Zen-like qualities about them, exuding peace, calm, and balance. The steel and glass pieces in particular verge on confounding in the ways Feldman so perfectly sets the glass vessels into their metal frameworks. At one point, I began wondering to myself, "How do dey do dat?" and when I wonder how dey do dat, dat means it's good. A couple of pieces appear a tad scrotumnal in nature, perhaps because the Folsom Street Fair was this weekend, perhaps because of latent hyopthalamic occlusions, or perhaps because they look that way. But at least they're smooth. Price range: $7000-$35,000.
