Comment: The SomArts Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead exhibit is dedicated to victims of violent death in the Bay Area. Even moreso, it's about art's healing and soothing powers, about art as an expression of respect and remembrance. The main exhibition floor is packed with installations, altars, skulls, skeletons, and the like-- all honoring the dead and departed. Viewers wend their way along narrow winding paths from installation to installation. The show is among San Francisco's most heartfelt and emotional art experiences.
