Gallery Paule Anglim : J. John Priola - Philanthropy.

Comment by AB: J. John Priola essays on the freebies we leave along the curb for outreach organizations to collect and recycle-- the front lines of generosity and giving. No matter how modest, it always makes a difference. For you artists who wonder whether there's a case for working in series, this about as good an example as any to demonstrate the compelling nature of a unified body of work. To consummate the experience, anyone in the mood to give is welcome to leave their philanthropy in the back room of the gallery for pick-up by CARH, Inc. at the close of the show. Worth a visit.

Corden Potts Gallery : Night and the City - Images by the 6th Street Photography Workshop.

Comment by AB: "The Sixth Street Photography Workshop has, for almost 20 years, not only offered an outlet for creative expression to homeless and low-income individuals from some of San Francisco's poorest neighborhoods but has, through the photos it produces, given an insider's perspective on these underserved and oft misunderstood areas of the city." That pretty much nails it. Tragic, romantic, dignified and uplifting-- these fellow human beings we try oh so hard not to know. Check it out.

Bekris Gallery : Renegades - Frank Marshall.

Comment by AB: Frank Marshall's fascinating photo-documentary surveys the heavy metal music subculture of Botswana. Definitely worth checking out. Marshall's strikingly incongruous portraits are sure to keep you staring.
