San Francisco Arts Commission at City Hall : Jeremy Fish - O Glorious City. Curated by Meg Shiffler

Comment by AB: In his capacity as San Francisco's first ever Artist in Residence at City Hall, Jeremy Fish creates 100 marvelous drawings and drawing/photograph combinations honoring, homaging and commemorating The City's greatness from its modest beginnings right up to the present day. Hopefully we'll be seeing many more Artists in Residence to come, but this first one's gonna be awfully hard to top. Great show; go see.

SOMArts Gallery : A Place of Her Own

Comment by AB: According to the explanatory notes, "Women visual artists respond to the question, 'If you had a place of your own, what would it be?'" Admirable objective; not so admirable art (with several exceptions). Better luck next time.

San Francisco Arts Commission 155 Grove Street Gallery : Gold In Peace, Gold In War - Sarah Smith

Comment by AB: Installation by Sarah Smith riffs on the San Francisco City Motto, San Francisco city motto, "Oro en Paz, Fierro en Guerra," or "Gold in Peace, Iron in War." At this moment, it's far more gold than iron.
