John Pence Gallery : Jacob A. Pfeiffer & Steven J. Levin.

Comment by AB: The precision with which Jacob A. Pfeiffer paints is something to behold, particularly his still-lifes of precariously balanced stones. The skill with which he can materialize his peculiar twists on reality verges on unbelievable. Steven J. Levin demonstrates his range with a selection of interiors, genre paintings, still-lifes and more. Go see this one.

Velvet da Vinci : Otto van Winkle Peterstein - The Clown Jewels.

Comment by AB: Otto van Winkle Peterstein's perplexing Clown Jewels are on display up front. There must be some significance to it all, but not being a regular, I would have no idea what it is. While you're here, though, check out the impressive selection of artisan jewelry, objets de vertu and more from an international roster of talents. Try it; you'll like it.

Misho Gallery : Misho - Nature imitates Art.

Review and images by Anneliese Vobis: The artist uncovers hidden overlooked places in an abstract dramatic style. Natural objects and environments illuminate Misho's views about the world.

Stairwells : A Well Stirs - Aaron Finnis, Christine M. Peterson, Emma Spertus.

Review and images by Anneliese Vobis: The artists' projects are site-specific to the stairwell in a Bernal Heights house. Slide projection, installation, photography, computer tape and much more is used at this site which serves as the gallery and the inspiration/location for the work. A really new interesting art approach, where also the audience becomes part of the installation and melts into the stairwell cosmos...

Lucky Alley Gallery : Maja Ruznic - To Love, To Lose.

Review and images by Anneliese Vobis: Figurative fairytale-like watercolor scenarios are the markers in Ruznic's art. Misty surfaces and metaphorical images draw us magically toward highlighted stories and human experiences. Some portraits remind to the expressive quality of Ida Applebroog's simplified humans.

111 Minna Gallery : John Waguespack.

Review by Anneliese Vobis: The pictorial language of John Waguespack has many different faces. Romantic dreamlike painting styles contrast with abstract geometric line work. The soft organic style reminds to Odilon Redon's mythological work, while the abstract colorful pieces present a meditative quality. Every time you look at this work something new can be discovered.
