Gallery Wendi Norris : Eva Schlegel; Helen Rebekah Garber - Numbers.

Review by RWM: In the front gallery, a fascinating video projected onto a large spinning propeller by Eva Schlegel captures images that tell a story. What is the canvas and who is the storyteller? Engaging tale for those who find a seat and watch a while. The narrative is apparent despite the silence.

Comment by AB: In the back gallery, Helen Rebekah Garber combines math, science and symbology into hypnotically hieroglyphic works of art. I'm liking both of these shows. Check 'em out.

K Imperial Fine Art : Kevin Earl Taylor - Lux.

Comment by AB: Kevin Earl Taylor elevates animals to the point where perhaps we'll start thinking of them more as compadres and less as dinner or trophies to plaster all over our walls.

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts : Lucy Raven - Hollywood Chop Riding.

Comment by AB: Part of the exhibition series "Control - Technology in Culture," the centerpiece of Lucy Raven's show based on film industry post-production processes is a two-screen simultaneous video where both screens gradually approach and eventually perfectly overlap each other resulting in a brief 3-D experience.

Ramon's Tailor : Temporal Cities - Lizzy Brooks and Radka Pulliam.

Comment by AB: Lizzy Brooks and Radka Pulliam document various activities in The Tenderloin related to them by the neighbors, such as loud noises and street peeing, and record them in the form of written experiences and rudimentary graph-type maps.

SMAart Gallery : Alchemy - Mark Goudy and Liza Riddle; Elemental Mysteries - Thornton Rockwell.

Comment by AB: I have no idea what they're talking about, but the deal is that Mark Goudy and Liza Riddle "continue to push the boundaries and effects of water-soluble metal salts that permeate the surface of burnished and polished ceramic forms." One thing I do know for sure is that a number of the top ceramic artists in town work and exhibit here.

Covering all this art action is anything but easy. Care to contribute to the effort in a tangible sort of way? If so, you can always do that here .
