Comment by AB: Glen E. Friedman's photographs read like a Who's Who of punk, hip hop and skateboard culture notables from the late 1970s through the 1990s. Also on exhibit is a selection of collaborative works done with Shepard Fairey. Get starstruck here.

The Luggage Store : T.W. Five, My last Darling - Paula Pereira and Pernilla Anderson.

Review by Clare Coppel: T.W. Five shows huge vinyl tape installation pieces on the walls. Boats, trains, and romantic text. Wait. Is that the BART? Sure looks like it, larger than life, graphic and colorful. What I really like about this work is walking up close to it and seeing how abstract and textured it becomes.

Comment by AB: Experience Paula Pereira and Pernilla Anderson's collaborative installation of vibrant oversized vinyl mural. The show is themed on travel, and in particular, the continual interplay and interaction between cultures-- such as Sweden (Pernilla Anderson) and Brazil (Paula Pereira), for example.

Gallery 16 : Michelle Grabner and Brad Killam - Collaborating with Michelle Grabner isn't as much fun as you might think it is.

Comment by AB: Oak Park, Illinois artists Michelle Grabner and Brad Killam pep up the gallery with wall works and sculpture-- Killiam sculpting with painted found objects like trash can lids and lawn chair backs, and Grabner going unrelentingly repetitive in graphite and in white paint on black canvas. Not your typical art show; check it out.

SOMArts Gallery : Julie Michelle, Chris Rusak and Rick Prelinger - I Live Here, SF.

Review by Hillary Lounsbury: Being surrounded by San Franciscans and people interested in seeing SF through the eyes of other SFers shows the viewer SF in new and forgotten ways. These pictures of our city's residents were taken in some iconic spots as well as some more obscure locations requiring a bit of seasoned SF living to recognize where they are. The fog (of course), various snippets of murals, Golden Gate Park, and green lushness make their appearances along with happy people; happy because they are cradled in SF's beauty. The stories available to read are written by the people photographed and remind readers why one moves here, and of the constant beauty SF exudes through its scenery and its inhabitants. The stories and pictures are touching and demonstrate that beauty surrounds us no matter where we may live.
