Fouladi Projects : Swag Bags and Palliasses - Pip Culbert.
Comment by AB: Pip Culbert comments on the new California Gold Rush, aka prospectors seeking their fortunes in tech, in her own unique way-- by removing everything but the seams from items once commonly used by those in search of The Motherlode. Knapsacks, mattresses, jeans, sleeping bags, and the like (plus a San Francisco Giants T-shirt) are reduced to their skeletal elements.

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts : Alien She; Landscape - The Virtual, the Actual, the Possible?
Alien She artists and contributors: Miranda July, Allyson Mitchell, L.J. Roberts, Stephanie Syjuco, Ginger Brooks Takahashi, Tammy Rae Carland. And archival materials from dumba collective, EMP Museum, Interference Archive, Jabberjaw, the Riot Grrrl Collection at the Fales Library & Special Collections at New York University, and many personal collections.
Landscape artists: Lucas Blalock, Elina Brotherus, Marcelo Cidade, Tacita Dean, Charles Gaines, Vidya Gastaldon, Paul Kos, Liang Shuo, Anthony McCall, Alicia McCarthy, Charlotte Moth, Simon Pyle, Hiraki Sawa, Maaike Schoorel, Lois Weinberger, Zhao Renhui, Zhou Tao, and Toby Ziegler with new commissions from Chen Xiaoyun, Tsang Kin-Wah, Zheng Guogu.
Comment by AB: In the main gallery, Alien She is a combination survey and tribute to Riot Grrrl, a punk feminist movement that began in the early 1990s and involved music, zines, art, activism and more.
Also on the docket, experience new ways of exploring the limits of landscapes in art, from traditional to virtual, co-presented by Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Kadist Art Foundation and China's Guangdong Times Museum.
