Comment by AB: For those of you who don't follow the best parties of the year in grand old Ess Eff, the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show, held annually at Festival Pavilion, Fort Mason Center throws an opening night gala that's not to be missed. This unequivocal full-tilt-boogie of a bash benefitting Enterprise for High School Students is the most kick-ass opulent blowout San Francisco's art and antiques communities magnificently muster by far. For socialites and those who love them, you can't possibly do better than this in terms of hobnobbing with the nobs and mingling with the patricians. Absolutely everyone is here, and we're not talking about brief appearances either; this is three to six hours of non-stop frolic depending on what kind of ticket you buy. If you can possibly save up the shekels for next year's, you won't regret going. Believe it.

But in the long haul, it's not about the champagne, caviar, lamb chops, sushi, donuts, fashion plates, and on and on ad infinitum, is it my connoisseur darlings? The best part by far is the goods. Select international exhibitors bring us the cream of pretty much everything they have to offer including furniture, jewelry, ceramics, rugs, textiles, brass, bronze, folk art, fine art, lighting, tapestries, sculptures, lamps, garden ornaments, advertising, vintage clothing, curios, memorabilia, rare books, postwar design, vintage posters, folk art, Asian art, and much much more. For those of you who don't necessarily hark back all that far before the 20th century, the selection of contemporary and modern fine and decorative arts is bigger and better than ever.
