Dolby Chadwick Gallery : Sherie' Franssen - Flesh and Blood.

Review by Kathryn Arnold: A great evening out at the galleries, and Dolby Chadwick has on display Sherie' Franssen color field paintings with flat glistening surfaces, smooth colors. These are large works that make a statement. One of the largest has multiple figures in it, one of them bearing a striking resemblance to the artist herself!

Review by RWM: Nice to see the playful use of colors, augmented by the beauty of pastels. Fun and serious abstractions where one can share in the brush strokes. The emotions are comfortable even if strained by relations that one does not always understand. The images are introspective and usually pleasing regardless.

Comment by AB: Action abounds in these vibrant frolics on canvas. Good art; go see.

Hespe Gallery : Marianne Kolb - Storrow Drive/North Station.

Comment by AB: The show's title, Storrow Drive/North Station, also happens to be Exit 26 off of Interstate 93 in central Boston. Perhaps these are characters you might see along the streets in that vicinity.

Sandra Lee Gallery : Twenty-Four in San Francisco - Brett Amory.

Review by Clare Coppel: Brett Amory's solo show of new works, "Twenty-Four in San Francisco" is about, as one might suspect, spending 24 hours in San Francisco. This could have been hokey, but Amory manuveurs around land mines of cliche in this body of work which is really intimate and emotional. The lighting suggested in these paintings is layered in an old school way that one does not see all that often in younger artists, and brings you right to the locations, those locations often being in the Tenderloin. The found objects displayed in proximity to the paintings also are fascinating.

Comment by RWM: Nice here to notice the fog and get caught up in the city and night atmospherics.

Comment by AB: Worth a visit.

A modest fiduciary consideration might be nice... like how about the amount you save on gas, tolls and parking by perusing creative San Francisco from the comfort of your computer screen rather than having to fight the traffic and the rest of reality in order to be there in person?
