Catharine Clark Gallery : Masami Teraoka - The Last Supper/ The Inversion of the Sacred Media Room and Works on Paper, 1969-2007; Chris Doyle - Apocalypse Management (telling about being one being living).

Review by RWM: Amazing to see Teraoka's images again. I remember them from the De Young. One may find here expressions they've never seen before. The work is also controversial and though seemingly so, not really pornographic. Crimes caught in paint. One cannot help but be alarmed by the art which is simultaneously exotic, neurotic and erotic. Nice depictions of the ocean as well, but there is no clear way to escape.

Comment by AB: Impressive retrospective of Teraoka's works on paper as well. And check out Chris Doyle's end-of-the-world vignette in the video parlor.

Brief Space Gallery : Grand Opening co-hosted by SEX+DESIGN.

Artists: Greg Pnut Galinsky, Duser, David Choong Lee, KALI, Matt Linares, Ricky Watts, Phoneticontrol, Alice Koswara, Rae Threat, Lilea Duran, Cia Gould, Alfredo Reyes, Ellie Clark, Daniel Fleres, Dray, JW Miller, Chris Brett, Jorge Catoni, Deborah Doherty, Max Ehrman, Toby Judith Klayman, Danell Powell, Brian Barnelco.

Review by RWM: Nice place/space to view the variety of art presented. Some of the work is sexy; others strive to make social statements. The show is also attended by mannequins who keep their judgements to themselves.

Comment by AB: Brief Space-- so named 'cuz it's outta here on December 31 to make way for a Target store. Catch it while you can.

Sagan Piechota Architecture : Sargam Griffin.

Review and images by DeWitt Cheng: The North Bay painter Sargam Griffin shows a dozen or so abstract paintings on canvas in the architecture firm of Sagan Piechota, in Hayes Valley. Featuring multiple layers of glazes (Galkyd, walnut oil medium), the paintings are richly atmospheric, with suggestions of landscape seen through memory and process.

Soap Gallery : We Are The Colony Of The Divine Consumption - Bert Bergen and Cori Crowley.

Review by RWM: Foreign shores, but the flags assembled send their subtle messages. One should look here closely before getting on the plane.

Comment by AB: Bert Bergen and Cori Crowley formalize the politics of your basic garden variety ant colony.
