Comment by AB: According to the diatribe, there's a storyline here, but for me, the storyline is Matt Borruso's mastery of the unappealing, ugly, unpleasant and unsettling. Most art that bears these characteristics is just plain bad. Borruso's is marvelous. Check it out.

Comment by AB: This extensive exhibition investigates the ongoing efforts of governments, corporations and other entities of enforcement to investigate and monitor our every move. Big Brother is watching. Of that, we can be sure. Be prepared to spend some time at this one; plenty to cogitate on.

941 Geary Gallery : Young and Free - Contemporary Australian Street Artists.
Artists: Anthony Lister, Kid Zoom, Dabs & Myla, DMOTE, NEW2, Ben Frost, Meggs, HA-HA, Reka, Rone, Sofles, Vexta.
Review by Mairead O'Connor: Young and Free is the largest exhibition to date of Australian graffiti and street artists in the US, and a very powerful show. Each artist has an individual style and certainly deserves to be among the best. The works are large, colorful and beautifully executed. I really am loving the explosion of this genre in today's art world. I can't wait to see where it goes.

Comment by AB: The winner here? Atsuko Morita's series "Personal Effects" consists of multiple panels of nine photographs, each an image of someone's personal belonging. That person's portrait is to the left of the nine images. The positioning of those images is identical for each panel allowing viewers to cross-compare what people own and how they live. Also worth noting are Ivan Freeman's "liquid emulsion on cold press watercolor paper" photographs of buildings in San Francisco.
