Gallery Wendi Norris : Claire Healy & Sean Cordeiro - Architects of Destruction; Nicolas Lobo - D.O.W.

Review by RWM: Amazing use of LEGOs. Great to see these plastic pieces used to form abstractions. Not usual for building blocks, but fun to see them used in this way here. Fascinating despite the repetition of images. Fun to ponder, reflect and remember.

Comment by AB: In the front gallery, Claire Healy & Sean Cordeiro create images of notable explosions, disasters and conflagrations with LEGOs and needlepoint. Also on display are several intricate whiteboard drawings. In the rear gallery, marvel at Nicolas Lobo's Play-Doh sculptures. Superior art on both counts; stop on by.

Gregory Lind Gallery : Barbara Takenaga.

Review by RWM: Beautiful work that floats and is uplifting in colors which capture the movement. Nice to be up there in the balloon. Pleasant work that also astounds.

Comment by AB: About as cosmic as art can get, and exceptionally well executed to boot. Several of them look like UFOs careening in from the deepest reaches of outer space. Worth a visit.

The McLoughlin Gallery : Judith Marshall and Bryan Boutwell - The Subliminal and The Sublime.

Review by Kathryn Arnold: Bryan Boutwell's inventions (3D assemblages with concept) create plays on words as he borrows on language (feeling like Duchamp) for the titles. The 2D works are exciting, filled with a pulsating energy . To examine more of his works I visited the artist's website. Colors convey an urban sense-- very much worth seeing.

Comment by AB: Also on the docket, classic abstracts by Judith Marshall incorporate snippets of text, photographs and other embedded references.
