Venus Gallery : Quinn Scheibal - Recent Works.
Comment by AB: Artist Quinn Schiebal trundles on down from way out in the woods, somewhere in the general vicinity of Geyserville. He paints on panels of found wood in a naive folky style, heavily working the paint and then applying toned varnishes to yield a distinctly aged feel. According to the deposition, Schiebal's father is a collector of early American folk art, so that explains part of it, but unlike folk art, there's a symbology going on that speaks to an uncommonly wondrous reality. Like 'em.
