111 Minna Gallery : Illusions of Grandeur - NoMe Edonna & Lee Harvey Roswell.

Review by Mairead O'Connor: NoMe Edonna and Lee Harvey Roswell really impress their viewers. I hear so many interesting conversations sparked by these involved Surrealistic paintings. They are exquisitely rendered, vibrantly colored and multi-layered.

Comment by AB: You gotta pick through the wealth here to discover the real gems, but it's worth the search 'cuz. All's good on all counts. Speaking of pick-- Pick of First Thursday-- particularly the ominous twisted fictions of Lee Harvey Roswell, wild as wild can be. NoMe Edonna's cosmic symbol-rich configurations will mesmerize as well. Decidedly worth a visit.

Hang Art Gallery : Found & Lost - A Collaboration Between HANG ART and Lost Art Salon.

Artists: Gail Raggains, Peter Andrea, and Lost Art Salon's lost artists.

Comment by AB: Gumbo of an affair pairs two Hang Art artists with a distressing hodgepodge of Lost Art Salon's kitschy vintage stragglers. Hang-- you're not doin' yourself any favors with this one.

Spoke Art Gallery : A Taste of Things to Come - Group Exhibition.

Artists: Nimit Malavia, Casey Weldon, Serge Gay Jr., Rod Luff, Tim Doyle, Sam Wolfe Connelly, Jonas Lofgren, Handiedan, Ron Ulicny.

Review by Anneliese Vobis: Survey overview of Spoke Art's up-and-coming shows this year. Painting, sculpture and New Genre give an introduction to the tastes and directions of this venue.

Comment by Mairead O'Connor: This group show samples the art and artists we'll be seeing this year. It's a great selection of emerging and contemporary work.

Arc Studios & Gallery : Neither Here Nor There.

Artists: Zina Al-Shukri, Marius Bosc, Margeaux Bucher, Kelly Clancy, Claire Colette, Tracy Grubbs, Brandon Larson, Anne Hicks Siberell, Valerie Jacobs, Feng Jin, Dorian Katz, Diana Lee, Malcolm Nicoll, Michael Pauker, Doug Sandelin, Pallavi Sharma, Loring Taoka, Julie Tsuchiya, Dan Tu, Rochelle Youk.

Comment by AB: Yet again from Arc, a group show billed as a national juried exhibition. I think it's more like the show's title-- neither here nor there. Perhaps let's recalibrate it a bit next time, drop the "national," and call it a juried show.
