Meridian Gallery : Myth and Metaphor - The Intaglio Prints of Thomas Wood; Source [Re] Source - Artists with Their Interns from the Meridian Interns Program.

Source [Re] Source artists: Nancy de Y. Elkus (Director, Meridian Interns Program), Matthew Marchand, Laura Boles Faw, Gopika Sitwala, Rye Purvis, Vita Hewitt.

Comment by AB: Thomas Wood holds court on the top floor of the gallery with an exceptional medley of intaglio prints. You can see all kinds of influences including Goya, Durer, Old Masters, Modern Masters and more. But whatever it is and whoever it's inspired by, Wood ultimately makes it his own. On the bottom two floors is a group show of work by Meridian Gallery artists and their student interns.

Misho Gallery : Swiss Bay Area Artists Show.

Artists: Monika Steiner, Marianne Kolb, Sylvie Serrex-Bonnet, Corinne Gobet, Claudia N.Nolte, Jean-Benoit Levy, Karl Vischer, Eli Geiser, Misho.

Review by RWM: Great and wondrous group show. One can find here beauty, genius of design and pathos. Big variety with disparate perspectives in this city that has gone postmodern.

Comment by AB: "The pulse of Swiss art in San Francisco."

Z Space Gallery : Jessica Skloven - Recent Work.

Comment by AB: You can't really identify what any of Jessica Skloven's photographic compositions are, but you know they're something. The narratives are likely compelling as well. Perhaps one day I'll ask...

The Armory, 280 14th Street, San Francico, CA 94103: San Francisco Beautiful Awards.

Comment by AB: According the the San Francisco Beautiful website, for more than sixty years, this organization "has been integral in making San Francisco the extraordinary place it is today. We work to keep San Francisco beautiful through civic engagement, partnering with communities to build better neighborhoods, and celebrating urban innovation." Among other groups, individuals and organizations being honored tonight is the Recology Artist in Residence (AIR) program. A sampling of their recycled refuse art is also on display (though challenging to photograph).

    Fabric8 Gallery : Shoalmates - Ninjagrl.

Review by RWM, images c/o Fabric8 Gallery: Nice to see attention and appreciation of the blue oceanic world out there and it's fascinating creatures. There's a bunch of cool ocean creatures in the deep big blue as shown here in paintings. They are cute and cuddly in this presentation. After such a show one might be surprised to find out that in many places of the world, fish are just considered food. Nobody should starve because of this soapbox opportunity, but we do have the options and information now to not eat certain fish into extinction.

Aquariums are leading the way in the Sustainable Seafood Movement, i.e., we should only sample from what is still plentiful. Sadly we have eaten all the adults of some fish and what's left now in some populations are just the kid or small fish. Our marine counterparts are presented here with cuteness, style and personality. And there are so many other things to eat like cheese, vegetables, and cookies.
