Comment by AB: Every Friday, the de Young stays open until 8:45. In addition to wandering the galleries (which charge admission), you'll enjoy a variety of free events like live music, poetry, films, dance, resident artist shows, tours, and lectures, the cafe and a no-host cocktail bar (not free), and art-making opportunities for children and adults. Tonight's offerings include the closing reception for " The Crucible - Unity with Nature," and a concert by music ensemble, "Classical Revolution."

Comment by AB: Group show of visual artists whose art is based in sound and music. A smattering of music and video rounds out the picture. The event is somehow affiliated with Bay Area Now 5, but I'm clear on the details. And of course it's a superior party (what else is new?), dense with art, there's all kinds of creaitve carousing going on, nomadic ice cream available c/o Brion Nuda Rosch, and even occasional local luminaries perambulating about the place, like former YBCA (and current Oakland Museum) curator Rene de Guzman, for instance.
