Togonon Gallery : Approximating Truth, Second Annual West Coast Exhibition of Artists Using Photography - Seza Bali, Dean Dempsey, Nadim Sabella and Judy Wu; Lights - Grant Davidson.
Review by RWM: Dean Dempsey's intriguing backlit photographs appear to extract out various truths about gender. One cannot help but feel a strange pain and alientation. In this quirky exhibit, his photographs definitely stand out with their missing body parts and altered images. Among the other photos in the show are remote and inspiring landscape pictures which invert, clone and mirror images to appear double faceted. And the black and white still life photographs of lights by Grant Davidson are engaging as well.
