George Krevsky Gallery : Mary Robertson - River Days.

Review by RWM: Nice and calming. Relaxing to let and watch the emotions flow down the river. Wonderful company for comforting days together by the tranquil waters.

Comment by AB: Summertime serenity along the banks of the Russian River never looked so good.

Lower Branch Gallery : Max Ehrman and Ricky Watts.

Comment by AB: Multicolor abstractions with an urban flair comprise the offerings at this recently opened Tenderloin gallery. I'm here a little early-- they're still getting ready for the opening.

Alter Space : Practicing to Pretend. Guest curated by Melissa Dickenson and William Emmert.

Artists: David Bayus, Kate Bonner, Rebekah Goldstein, Evan Nesbit, Nikki Painter, Jonah Susskind.

Comment by AB: Group show features work by some of our more progressive practitioners. According to the handout, "These artists are makers and masters of their own technique not limited by material." I have no idea what that means, but it sounds kinda good.

Market Street Gallery : Dreamscapes - Tomoko Kumaki.

Comment by AB: Delicate and detailed conceptions of the halcyon heavens we're sometimes fortunate enough to encounter in our journeys through slumberland.

Queens Nails : Queens Nails is Dead.

Artists: Daniel Joseph Martinez, Jerome Reyes, Marco Rios.

Review and images by Carrie Katz: The end of an era. After eight years of over 100 exhibitions and countless events, Queens Nails comes to a end this summer with a phenomenal must-see final show. It honors mentorship and cross-generational relationships, featuring fresh new work by Daniel Joseph Martinez, Jerome Reyes, and Marco Rios. Julio Morales, who recently moved to Arizona, leaves Queens Nails behind with a final gift to San Francisco-- the curatorial greatness he is known for, and certainly lives up to here. The performances at the opening are spectacular, but the exhibition holds its own without them. Do not miss this show; this gallery will now take its place as an important part of San Francisco's art history.
