Anthony Meier Fine Arts : Sarah Cain - Loud Object.

Comment by AB: Sarah Cain bolts the instant she sees me, possibly because I had a thing or two to say about an installation she did NINE years ago. Ancient history, but history the just the same, though perhaps after that amount of time letting bygones be bygones might conceivably be an option, wouldn't you think? Moving more towards the present, I kinda liked her 2009 show at Anthony Meier, but this time around, I'm lovin' it, especially the two largest works, especially especially the cardboard construction framed with tightly crimped lengths of white painted canvas, the surface of the piece divided into four TV screen-like sectors, each cordoned off from the others by a faux white mat with ersatz beveled gold edge. Really superb... and one of the freshest artworks I've seen out and about in a while. Good stuff; check it out.

Dolby Chadwick Gallery : Charley Brown - Divergence; Gonzalo Fuenmayor - They Say I Came Back Americanized.

Review by RWM: Wild. Crazy. Zany. Outlandish Hats. Bananas. Things you might have never seen before, the workings of a sensitive and strange outlook on a strange world. Bizarre is the art of Gonzalo Fuenmayor.

Comment by AB: In the front gallery, Charley Brown's slick broadband two-color abstracts reside at the junction of Franz Kline and Ellsworth Kelly with perhaps a dash of Kasimir Malevich thrown in.

Scott Richards Contemporary Art : Peter Anton - Random Acts of Indulgence.

Comment by AB: Unimaginably sumptuous supersized sweets, so real looking that you can barely keep your appetite off of them. The best part is that if you look carefully at the candy in the boxes, you'll see someone's been sampling the calories because various bonbons are partially eaten. I gained two pounds just looking at this show. Stop on by.

Comment by AB: Precision ceramics sheathed in perfect earthy glazes by Ian McDonald blend the best of art and industry. Worth seeing.

Robert Koch Gallery : Joshua Lutz - Hesitating Beauty; Identity - Psychological Portraiture.

Psychologica Portraiture photographers: Delaney Allen, Roger Ballen, Ralph Eugene Meatyard, Dita Pepe, Jan Saudek.

Comment by AB: In his intimate heartfelt documentary, Joshua Lutz essays in imagery on his mother's decline in mental health and the impact of this adversity on his family. Kinda sad, but nicely done. Also on the docket is a group portrait show, the kind of portraits where you're allowed ample latitude in the way of interpretation.
