Museum of the African Diaspora : Coffee, Rhum, Sugar & Gold - A Postcolonial Paradox; Rodney Ewing - Longitude + Latitude

Coffee, Rhum, Sugar & Gold artists: Firelei Báez, Leonardo Benzant, Andrea Chung, Lavar Munroe, Angel Otero, Phillip Thomas, Lucia Hierro, Adler Guerrier, Ebony G. Patterson, Didier William.

Comment by AB: In the main second and third floor galleries, Coffee, Rhum, Sugar & Gold assesses the legacy of European colonialism in the Caribbean from ten artist perspectives, and the vestiges of the era which remain evident, in place, and continue to actively impact life in the region today.

On exhibit in the salon is a body of work by Rodney Ewing created during his residencies at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and the Djerassi Resident Artists Program. Based on actual historical incidents, his art explores issues of forced migration, displacement, marginalized communities, and the geographic consequences involved. This show closed on June 23, 2019.
