Catharine Clark Gallery : Dance Performance featuring Damian Smith - A benefit for the Museum of Performance + Design; Incarnate - Kara Maria, Josephine Taylor, Kate Gilmore.

Review by RWM: Special treat this time for dance fans who have insight and appreciation of the process. Art is painted live sort of like Jackson Pollack, but instead captured in the movements of a dancer dancing-- paint covered feet recording his movements on the paper below. Not quite edgy, but some edgy art is on the walls. Nice to see all these inspired people who are happy to be part of this event.

C2c Project Space : Abraham McNally and Vanessa Marsh.

Review by RWM: Art and lifestyles connect in these paired shows which showcase art friends who live and work on opposite coasts. Bay Area artist Vanessa Marsh shows her photographs of palm trees and telephone lines. Brooklyn artist Abraham McNally exhibits sculptures that you can hang on your walls. Nice uses of materials and profound inspirations. The world has certainly gotten smaller for tales that one might not be able to finish on a cross-country airplane ride.

Adobe Books and Arts Cooperative : KEEPEYES Anniversary Show and Release Party.

Artists: George Crampton, Andrew Luck, Rachel Simon Marino, Savash Erenler, Will Grogan, Jeffrey Cheung, Luis Garcia, Justin Erwin, Evan Bissonette, Alex Ferraz, Cormac Fawsitt, Ryan, Mariel Kon, Nathaniel Galipeau, Pablo Pinho, Nina Potepan, Casey Jones, Willy Reed, Jackson Elliot, Brett Flannigan, Alex Hartong, Tristan Arcelona, more.

Comment by AB: First anniversary blowout for Keepeyes, a bimonthly printed magazine of art and writing features a group art show in the back room. Some pretty peppy specimens by promising young talents, and serious partying everywhere else. But Adobe-- price it, will you please? I come to show after show here, occasionally ask for a price, and nobody ever knows anything. Are you an art gallery or what? Gimme a break already.

Luna Rienne Gallery : Against the Grain - Ursula X Young.

Review by RWM: One might wonder who Ursula X Young has found for her muse in her paintings created over many years, that same visual persona expressed on the walls. I ask her personally and she tells me that it is not an individual person, but more of an assemblage of a few. This woman without a name or identity has looked upon visitors who have in turn admired her for years. Many images of her are on display here. Fun show and a great encounter with beauty. Easy to look into those big questioning eyes, but she does not always approve. That is her prerogative.
