Mina Dresden Gallery : Stripped - Todd Laby.
Review by RWM: Though presented in Todd Laby's statement as a fabrication or something to think twice about, you can't help but be impressed by his workmanship with plywood. You can ask whether this is painting or sculpture-- the lines mildly blurred here in this meld of structural works, most mounted on the walls like paintings. The way the wood is cut and assembled into flowing forms is definitely impressive. Does everything really need to have another meaning, or can it not simply be appreciated on it's own?
