Chinese Culture Center : Lam Tung-pang - The Curiosity Box.

Comment by AB: Hong Kong artist Lam Tung-pang visits America with support of the Asian Arts Council. He spends a certain amount of time every day out and about in the city, and the rest of the time reflecting on his experiences alone in his apartment. This esoteric meandering personal-diary-style installation is about those experiences, though also influenced by the loneliness and isolation arising out of being separated from his familiar home town surroundings. An informed area artster tells me that Tung-pang is looking forward to leaving America behind, that he's had more than enough. We were once the envy of the world, but for a while now, we've been inexorably inching towards the scourge, with foreigners increasingly coming to believe that we're minding everybody's business but our own. The sad part is that we have no one to fault but ourselves.
