Review by Mark Gould: Mirus Gallery owner Paul Hemming does a great job curating a New Surrealism exhibit with artists exploring contemporary versions of surrealism via a range of symbols and metaphors to explore the subconscious. In today's globally connected yet increasingly fragmented world, our minds are assaulted with every kind of imagery. The artists who assemble work for Dreamtime - New Surrealism do an excellent job of delighting our curious nature and reframing the sense of what's real, and what's un- or sur-real.
Review by RWM: So much color and strange stuff. Beautiful to be confronted with all of this colorful paint. Iconographic at times. Intriguing collages.

Comment by AB: Seminal culture-shifting images by three of the great rock & roll photographers of all time, photographed for album covers and otherwise. The music is paramount, but the visual is what invariably ices the legacy.

Comment by AB: The admirably auspicious debut of this deep Tenderloin gallery is unceremoniously interrupted a manhole explosion nearby, resulting in emergency vehicles and personnel everywhere. But the show must and does go on, featuring a cogent cull of our more prodigious urban practitioners. Good show; worth a visit.

Comment by AB: Tonight at the Larkin Shooting Gallery White Walls metroplex, we have torn tattered vintage billboard renditions by Gregg Gossel, Yumiko Kuyakawa's brilliantly fantabulous imaginary adventures (by painting herself into her dreams she becomes them-- I wish I could do that), starkly direct and at times disturbing portraits and figure paintings by Aaron Nagel, and prismatic otherworldly outcomes by David Marc Grant. Recommended.
