    K. Imperial Fine Art : Michael Cutlip - New Works.

Review by Hannah Cosner: In this tiny space, the presence of Michael Cutlip's paintings seems to enlarge the room itself. With layered strips of horizontal color and familiar patterns paired with certain vintage and iconic images, these abstract environments ooze with visceral spontaneity and fits of meditative precision. Cutlip loves 1950s appliances and his favorite color is turquoise.

Corden Potts Gallery : Beth Moon - Odin's Cove.

Comment by AB: Platinum prints of a pair of ravens and their surroundings shot at a single location along the California coast. Beth Moon established a relationship with these ravens over a three-year period of repeated visits to their habitat, and this romantic essay in the Pictorialist tradition is all about that.

The McLoughlin Gallery : Alta Temperatura.

Artists: Alejandro Contreras, Roberto Fonfria, Rudolf Kohn, Cristobal Valecillos, and Yaro. Curated by Rudolf Kohn.

Review by Anneliese Vobis: The artists present an interesting mix of painting, sculpture, photography and video art. Cristobal Valecillos creates art that confronts us with a thought-provoking transformation. He recycles packaging material, giving it a new life in a very powerful conceptual installation.

Comment by AB: The five artists in this show are all from Miami.

Bekris Gallery : When Words Fail - Paintings by Mulugetta Tafesse; Sculptures by Etiye Dimma Poulsen.

Review and images by Hannah Cosner: You feel the serenity the moment you walk into Bekris gallery. Paintings by Mulugeta Tafesse offer a cool contrasting color pallet in cityscapes and figure studies. His street scenes seem almost like memories with foggy depictions of vague figures. The portraits and figure paintings have their own particular narratives relating to the artist's inner stress and peace, as though they are stories of life's effect on the body.

Sculptures by Etiye Dimma Poulsen embody ancient, yet contemporary, influences. Her pieces seem to reflect nature as much as humanity. The figures perhaps express essence of the spirit of the subject, radiating strength, struggle and pride.
