Esteban Sabar Gallery : Scott Hove and Bethany Ayres - The Hot Salon.

Review and images by DeWitt Cheng: Scott Hove is showing large, powerfully rendered oils depicting civilization as a succession of infernal machines. Bethany Ayres resurrects the domestic goddess imagery of the 1950s and puts a Pop, feminist spin on it-- satire as fun.

DeWitt Cheng writes for Artweek, Art Ltd., www.SanFranciscoArtMagazine.com, www.Shotgun-Review.com, and the East Bay Express.

Front Gallery : Calixto Robles, Alexandra Blum - Myths and Dreams.

Review and images by DeWitt Cheng: Calixto Robles makes medium-sized acrylic and small fresco paintings dealing with Mexican mythology, and silkscreen prints on current Mexican politics. Alexandra Blum creates complex monotypes about Mediterranean/classic myths that recall Matisse and Picasso, but with contemporary notes. Both are active in the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts community in San Francisco.
