George Krevsky Gallery : Lawrence Ferlinghetti - Future Woman.
Review by RWM: Nice to a see a future woman who is distracted or uninvolved rather than one who is dangerous or threatening. Not necessarily their fault though. Those presented here in interesting color schemes are part of the color flow of the times and history. They are beautiful even if they are a challenge or challenged. Nice change from the grotesques that some have found in the abstract art of modernism. Interesting mono colors and color contrasts. It is good to know what one should expect and to what degree possible in a tough and changing world.
Comment by AB: Lawrence Ferlinghetti is assuredly among the most significant counterculture icons of the 20th century, but as for his paintings topping out at $25K, I'm not quite buyin' it. Here's what I am buyin' though... he's 94 years old and still out and about in style. You gotta give him props. I can only hope and pray that I'll be doing what he's doing when I'm that age.

Comment by AB: Henry Horenstein's vintage C&W honky tonk photos headline the RayKo press release. Sounds great; I'm stoked. What do I see when I get there? A grand total of ten photos mounted tight on the wall in two rows of five facing the RayKo front door, and they're all really excellent, but I'm expecting a full-on retrospective with a top billing like that. You headlined it; I reviewed it; the other two shows will just have to wait. Fair exchange, don't you think? PS... multiple people complained about this bait-and-switch ballyhoo.

Comment by AB: This one's all about Elisheva Biernoff for me. Her miniature faux postcard paintings (both front and back) of endangered species are absolutely exquisite. Is bigger always better? I don't think so. Little gems of the highest order. Augment your collections now.
The show's all good though. World traveler Lisa K. Blatt romantically atmosphericizes China, Andrew Witrak transforms a vacation with too many drinks into a heavenly bedtime, Ala Ebtekar makes everything look cosmic and beautiful, James Gobel whips up a flannel abstraction, and Tucker Nichols plays himself.
