Comment by AB: An impressive selection of art is on the block tonight at The Lab's annual art auction. I'm there in advance of the onslaught, so have an opportunity to see how respectable the selection is. If you missed this year's, get on their mailing list for next year's. Always a superb opportunity to augment the collection.

Comment by AB: Yet another "national juried exhibition" graces the walls of of Arc's first floor gallery space, the mystifying medley on display themed around the concept of consequences. Everything's the consequence of something, so I suppose that justifies this...

Dogpatch Cafe & Art Gallery : ReCreation - Tuan Tran.

Comment by AB: An unabashed unapologetic unadulterated appropriation of the art of Ruth Asawa. According to the explanatory, these colorful clones are made from excess or discarded materials, so that's a plus point.

Guerrero Gallery : Kounter Pärt - Kevin E. Taylor; Pathetique - Taravat Talepasand.

Comment by AB: In the front gallery, Kevin Taylor reminds us of the tenuousness of the state of our environment, not from a perspective of beauty and grandeur, but rather one of what the world might look like if we're not good caretakers. In the rear gallery, Taravat Talepasand makes no secret of her feelings toward the mullahs, the clerics who currently rule Iran, and in particular, their policies and views toward women. Good show on both counts; check it out.
