Mina Dresden Gallery : Chris Vance - Remote.

Review by RWM: Great shots of the Southwest in all of its solitude. Extraordinary landforms and locations. Nice to see such work presented in large and grand scale. The size draws one into the images. The harsh climate is only been sustainable and friendly to visitors.

Mission Comics and Art : Ascension to Detail - Aaron Zonka.

Comment by AB: Says Aaron Zonka, "I make art because it gives purpose to my path and acts as breadcrumbs to look back on where I have been. I make art because the act of creation is like breathing and I wouldn't function without it. I make art to have a physical forum for my imagination to reveal itself. I make art because I have to." All well and good for you Aaron, but what's in it for me?

[ 2nd floor projects ] : Rich Bott - Still at large STOP Last seen at Mira Mesa Chilis STOP.

Comment by AB: Rich Bott buys blank vintage STOP telegrams off of eBay (the world's greatest STOP art supply store) and repurposes 'em with STOP strangely entertaining food and drug related messages. In the main room, he shows off some rather spiffy charcoal drawings of bland commercial architecture + a video. And that, as they say, is that. Kinda like it.

Arc Studios & Gallery : SPARC! Arc Studios & Gallery Artists Inaugural Exhibition.

Artists: Jack Androvich, Kirk Brooks, Mike Kimball, Ben Needham, Priscilla Otani, Rachel Sager, William Salit, Stephen C. Wagner, Tanya Wilkinson, Hilary Williams and special guest Matthew Frederick.

Comment by AB: Inaugural reception for this newly opened gallery and artist studio space in the former digs of New Langton Arts (R.I.P.). Partners in the endeavor-- Matthew Frederick, Priscilla Otani, Stephen C. Wagner and Mike Yochum-- have done a superior job renovating the place. I believe a few studio spaces might still be available. Check it out.

Canessa Gallery : David Molesky - Spume.

Review by RWM, image c/o Canessa Gallery: Nice appreciations of the oceanic here, of the waves and the foam. Some odd shapes, even for the ocean, not to be confused with the aquatic which does not always have as much foam.
