Ratio 3 Gallery : Miriam Böhm - Inventory.
Review by Anneliese Vobis: Miriam Boehm's photographic series transforms the space into a minimalist setting. Like Christo she confronts the audience with something wrapped and makes us wonder about the hidden nature of her photographic wrapping pieces.
Comment by AB: According to the script, Miriam Böhm's photography "inquires into the very nature of the art object; how it is made, perceived, and how we derive meaning from it." Fair enough, and an adequately engaging disquisition at that. So I ask the dude at the front desk, "If I buy one of these and have it shipped, how do you pack it?" And he looks at me like, "What?" I think I'm being funny; he thinks I'm from planet Zork. So is it him... or is it me? Probably me.

Adobe Books Backroom Gallery : IT'S A SIGN - New Bohemia Signs Group Exhibition.
Artists / Sign Painters: Damon Styer, Jeff Canham, Josh Luke, Caitlyn Galloway, Ken Davis.
Review by Anneliese Vobis: These artists make the process of sign creation very transparent to the viewer. The walls show not only the finished signs, but also the pencil drafts for the finished images. Paints, letters, stencil etc. inform the curious visitor about the whole design process. Overall you get the impression to become part of the masterfully presented project. This show is really worth a visit.
Review by RWM: If you are looking to send a message, to send a sign to someone, you can probably find it here in this homage to signage that looks as though it might date from a bygone Western pioneer era.
Comment by AB: Signs as art. It totally works. Prices range from $60 up to $4000 for an entire wall grouping. Like it!

Review by Anneliese Vobis: Visitors find work in an unusual gallery setting. The main space is a typical sales setting with very inviting products, but all the way at the back of the room, the real treasures hidden in an intimate gallery space. Every shown piece beckons you to have a second look, so precisely crafted and storytelling. Definitely worth going there for a treasure hunt-- love it.

Review by Anneliese Vobis: From video installation and sculpture to photography, artists respond in a variety of mediums to the concept of alchemy. Viewed in conjunction with a concurrent (and soon to be travelling) exhibition by Alison Pebworth investigating American history and contemporary culture, everything melds together to a very interesting examination of transformational processes.

But that's only the beginning; the rest, you have to see for yourself. Art priced Free and up. $20-$50 will buy you plenty. Go get 'em... Yo!
