Comment by AB: For the main attraction, Calen Barca-Hall does up the gallery as a wacky miniature golf course, running up and down the ramps (and walls) for the entire length of the space. Interspersed along the walls and landings is an entertaining array of paintings and sculptures by Anna Huemmer, Matthew Kotzin and Jacob Troester. Some interesting art here; stop on by.

111 Minna Gallery : Fractured Minds - N8 Van Dyke (Nate Van Dyke) & Jonathan Way$hak.

Review by Anneliese Vobis: The show leads the audience through a surrealistic otherworldly setting in 2D Print media. Dark, sometimes scary creatures confront us with an overload of shocking, Bosch-like scenarios. The very expressive and loud work invites for closer investigations.

Comment by AB: Seriously masterful fantasy drawings and works on paper by N8 Van Dyke are certain to impress. He even demonstrates in one self-portrait how ideas literally explode out of his head. Creepy creature paintings by Jonathan Way$hak are admirably adept as well. Worth a visit.

Review by Anneliese Vobis: Utopian dreamlike hybrid organisms in black and white contrast the wild painting style of the other artists. The given pictorial cosmos stimulates thinking about the represented social relationships. The symbol-rich work raises many questions about the underlying stories.

Comment by AB: Artistic options comprising this motley medley include vintage-esque vignettes by Ben Walker, simmering hot babes with animal heads by Emily Burns, quality half-length portraits by Jaxon Northon, finely rendered insect/plant life/portrait fantasy pencil drawings by Nicomi Nix Turner, devilishly effective black and white portrait heads by Monty Guy (two with 3-D horns) and contorted caricatures by Josh Thurman. The Popular Workshop : Self Help - Ben Barretto.

Review by Anneliese Vobis: Mixed-media show consisting of paintings, weaving, etc. Ben Barretto uses climbing rope for his tapestries to express a kind fabric of life in a process oriented poetical manner. His paintings remind to the multilayer Jackson Pollock pictures. The cocooned canvas pictures with their bright basic color palettes add a hidden magical aspect to this interesting show.

Comment by AB: Australian artist Ben Barretto's innovative nonrepresentational works include tapestries woven from climbing rope, freewheeling texture-rich action paintings with underlying flourishes of color, and sections of nylon training pants configured into collages. Energy, expression and kaleidoscopic vitality exemplify the array. Good art; stop on by.

Review and images by Anneliese Vobis: This Nicholas Price exhibition of and digital media is full of kaleidoscopic secrets. Countless patterns of growth emerge out of their centers. The ongoing repetition process of the black lines invites for meditative engagement and transcendence with their timeless geometric qualities.

Comment by AB: The gallery opens a mini space several doors down from their existing location. What do you do with a small space? Fill it to the brim with small format art and antiques. Top the dealie bob off with a 19th century Swedish neoclassical chandelier, $11000. Works for me.
