FFDG : Mike Giant - Colorado.

Comment by AB: You can always count on Mike Giant to document our times in his unique graphic language. Tales told in urban hieroglyphics. Several large photographs of tattoo-laden babes spice up the show. Always worth seeing.

Tyler Wood Gallery : Rosha Yaghmai - in medias res (couch surfing and insomnia).

Comment by AB: Painted cast resin renditions elevate propel objects into the realm of sculpture. Don't miss the small-format pencil drawings on the walls. You might at first mistake them for photographs because they're that well done.

Ampersand International Arts : Street Noise - Patrick Sean Gibson; Tethers - Sam O'Leary. Curated by Out of Hands Onto Walls (OHOW).

Comment by AB: Patric Sean Gibson's ink drawings of life in the big city range from satiric to vulgar, and share compositional elements with vintage Punk Rock broadsides and posters. Miniature circular watercolors by Sam O'Leary inspired by his international explorations transport us to some of those faraway places.

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts : The Way Things Go. Curated by Rirkrit Tiravanija.

Artists: Michael Arcega, Maria Thereza Alves, Lonnie van Brummelen and Siebren de Haan, Peter Fischli and David Weiss, Camille Henrot, Luc Moullett, Museum of Gourd, the National Bitter Melon Council, Pratchaya Phinthong, Arin Rungjang, Thasnai Sethaseree, Shimabuku, SUPERFLEX with the Propeller Group, Rirkrit Tiravanija.

Comment by AB: Under the curatorial supervision of Rirkrit Tiravanija, the works center on food and all it encompasses including growing, manufacture, labor, trade, social components, and more. Frankly, I'm tired of these disjointed YBCA group shows that take hours to slog through where practically every installation is arcane, inaccessible, meandering, reads like a Dostoyevsky novel, and after all the effort you might put into it, is only marginally fulfilling. If this show is about complicating a universally relevant mega-topic like food to such a degree that hardly anyone will understand it let alone care, then it's a winner. The good news? YBCA's on the lookout for a new Director of Visual Arts.

Comment by AB: In this annual erotic extravaganza no topic is too taboo. Pretty much every I can't show you the too-taboo part, but I can at least give you a sense of the essence.
