Cain Schulte Gallery : Luca Antonucci - The New Nothing.
Comment by AB: White on white here, the inspiration on one side of the gallery being star clusters, the inspiration on the other side being the appearance of pillowcase surfaces after a week of sleeping on 'em. On the star cluster side, the printing plates have been made into low tables. You get the print; you get the table. It's a bona fide two-fer.

International Art Museum of America : International Interior Design Association's Mid-Market Display Windows.
Comment by AB: According to the handout, the International Interior Design Association has installed a number of show windows up and down the Mid-Market corridor. This evening's event is about that. But for me, it's all about the International Art Museum of America. I have no idea what this is or how it got here, but I love it. The lobby has been transformed into an extravagant and exotic Chinese garden. It's like outdoors indoors-- reflecting pools, climbing plants, rope ceilings, monumental wood and stone sculptures, glorious entryways, marble floor grandeur and more. Someone clearly poured mega-money into this place. The galleries are closed so I can't see either the basement or the second floor or what treasures might be on display there, but what I do see is so monumentally iconoclastic, I can only hope it survives and prospers.

Comment by AB: You've all seen those hearts around San Francisco, particularly on Union Square. Well, this is the annual fundraiser for that, the proceeds to benefit programs at SF General Hospital. It's all fun and more fun here at AT&T Park tonight, but the storyline is that no matter who you are or what your means, SF General Hospital is here for you. Let's never forget that.
