Comment by AB: The opening night preview party of this exceptionally excellent and enduring exhibition benefits the Textiles and the Art of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas department of the de Young Museum. Top dealers from every continent on the planet except for Antarctica converge in the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason with treasures galore including rugs, textiles, jewelry, sculpture, rare books, primitive and prehistoric tools, porcelain, ceramics, ceremonial objects, weapons, art, furniture, baskets, folk art, ethnographic antiquities and artifacts, and much more. It's like being in a museum except everything's for sale. The Tribal & Textile Arts Show is held the first weekend every February, so be sure to mark your calendars for next year. One of my favorite events of the year; San Francisco offers nothing else like it.
