Intersection for the Arts : By-Product Becomes Product - A Group Show.

Artists: Christine Lee, John F. Hunt, Russell Baldon, Julia Goodman, Barbara Holmes, Scott Oliver, Imin Yeh.

Review by RWM: Great intellectual art like usual from Intersection for the Arts. Fun also to be able to play with the movable pieces. Hard sometimes to figure out without listed introductions. Especially loved the wood paneling which could also serve as abstract pieces.

Comment by AB: More about wood products than art, this escapade borders on advertisement, but with environmentally admirable intent, which I suppose makes it all OK. Here's how they explain it....

"Artist Christine Lee has been working with the US Department of Agriculture's Forest Products Laboratory to explore safer alternatives to working with toxic material. Through this collaboration, she has created wood boards made from sawdust and recycled paper pulp fibers that contain no adhesives or toxic compounds, an alternative to readily available sheets of MDF and plywood, which offgas harmful levels of formaldehyde years after manufacture (remember the FEMA trailers post-Katrina?). We have given these toxic-free wood boards to a number of artists to showcase the versatility of the material, and to start discussion around safer studio practices for artists."

Comment by AB: Proficient pleasurable abstracts, odysseys in interconnection, easy on the eyes, and a meditative upgrade to any interior.
