Fused Space : Ben Quinn - Shoegazing. Curated by Jessica Silverman.

Comment by AB: Ben Quinn conjures up an alternate reality by uncoloring and then recoloring his excerpt-style photographs with a narcotic pastel palette. The subject matters are recognizable enough, but as for what's going on beyond their borders, those mysteries will likely never be solved. Good show; worth seeing.

Canessa Gallery : The Artist Is The Medium - Akira Beard and Della Heywood

Comment by AB: In a rather odd-couple pairing, Akira Beard offers up a wall of gracefully relational figure drawings, contorted in intriguingly improbable ways, while Della Heywood presents a combination of splat abstracts and indeterminate watercolor landscapes. Will someone please give Akira Beard a show? Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.

R/SF Projects : Hadar Kleiman - Premium Emporium

Comment by AB: Atypical materials and mixed-media blends make for a kicky sculptural array of takes on luxury.
