Modernism Gallery : The Frostig Collection.
Review by DeWitt Cheng: The Frostig Collection is an annual edition of fine prints or sculptures made from originals donated by heavy-hitter LA artists. Sales benefit kids with learning disabilities. The reception at Modernism Gallery features this year's five prints, by Gary Baseman, Charles Arnoldi, Ed Moses, R. Kenton Nelson and Alison Saar, as well as sculptural offerings from 2006 and 2005. Great stuff, very cool cause. Check out The Frostig Collection website.

Comment by AB: Southern California ceramic artist Irene Feiks ventures North bringing with her a bounty of fanciful examples. Feiks tells me she's enjoyed a long and varied career showing her work at numerous galleries over the years. Prices range from $500 to $3000.

Festival Pavilion, Fort Mason Center : The Arts of Pacific Asia Show presented by Caskey & Lees .
Comment by AB: I encounter artist, art critic, intellectual, and all-round renaissance handyman Jonathon Keats as I wander the aisles of this copious confluence of the good stuff-- 80 top international dealers exhibiting over 2000 years of the finest in Asian art, antiques, and artifacts-- and he and I instantly agree that this show is without doubt the best least-publicized annual art event in San Francisco (followed close behind by the Tribal and Textile Arts show next weekend, right here, same location, yet more top quality international exhibitors, same producers, don't miss it). In fact, Arts of Pacific Asia is one of the best annual SF art events period. I've said it before-- this show (and the Tribal show next weekend) are like walking through museums, the only difference being that everything's for sale. Tonight's opening night gala benefits the Asian Art Museum Chong-Moon Lee Center.
