Ratio 3 Gallery : Mitzi Pederson - 3:43.
Review by RWM: Fascinating art which challenges one's perceptions. It is not clear what is on the wall. More here for folks who no longer have the best eyes. The lines on the wall with the use of thread seem to float off in the air. They work might not be durable in the wind, but it does challenge you to look closely to see what is happening. Wonderful and memorable show even if one does not find a lot of beauty here. Maybe that is just the way things are.
Comment by AB: Sections of wood, swatches of mesh fabric, feathers, glitter, string, straight pins and concrete blocks are among the materials that Mitzi Pederson combines into art. The works are fragile, susceptible and challenging when considered from durability, endurance, maintenance, longevity, and even "what is art?" perspectives. Delicate ink and tulle works on canvas are the most traditional in appearance as are her regimented cinderblock sculptures. Worth a look and perhaps a contemplation as well.

Review by RWM: Interesting art on display with variety and distinction as one walks up the ramp. But best in show (at least for me) are the photographs of the people, probably visitors to The City, happily displaying their caricature drawings. It is fun to see these folks drawn out of proportion. Great smiles. Funny noses. Wondrous eyes. Nice relationships.
Comment by AB: Five San Diego talents trundle their oeuvres up North to show us what they've got. The gallery website shows the art, but none is identified by artist. Oy.
